Hello I have an old Dazzle DVC 80 RCA/ S-Video to USB that I use to convert tapes from my old Sony Handycam to digital and burn on discs. I built my new computer and I need to use it to copy a lot of clips, probably about 12-16 hours worth of tapes but I stumbled into a problem. I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit and the only driver Pinnacle has for is for Windows XP. I tried installing it in compatibility mode and I installed AmCap. AmCap will recognize it as 'Cirrus Logic' and its only a video source, no audio.
When I switch the video source from my actual Webcam to that it brings up an error that it was unable to add the source. I really dont want to do this but I have an extra SATA laptop drive that will fit in my case and an XP boot disk, thing is I really dont want to keep taking my side panel off and transfer my wires from my 1TB 3.5' drive to the XP drive. Anyone have anything to try?
Hi bobbat, Now, I'm not 100% sure, as I do not have a DVC-USB myself, but from my understanding, the drivers are 'boxed' with a few other of Pinnacle's (+Dazzle) USB product drivers. And I managed to find some below. How To Install Efashion Universe Of Energy there.
On the Pinnacle website, it says:: 'For the Dazzle DVC 80, DVC 150 and Fusion, these drivers are specifically designed work with Pinnacle's Studio and Studio QuickStart software and they are not intended to work with other video editing applications and have not been tested with other applications.' Do you have Pinnacle Studio? Hope this helps! Drivers ARE for hardware, you're right. But they are software instructions for your computer on how to deal with the hardware, and they are usually included with the bundled software.
Did you try installing the first link i gave you? Another option you have is if that doesn't work, to uninstall the hardware from the computer via the Device Manager (right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware) by selecting the DVC from the list, right clicking and click uninstall. Then restart the computer, and on hardware detection, select the option to download drivers from Microsoft Update. Let me know what happens, Rob =). I have not tried your first link yet since the Pinnacle tech said all files to support my hardware was removed from their site years ago. The tech did say that the hardware did work with Windows XP. I did uninstall and let MS Windows/Update try to find the drivers but it could not find the ones for my specific hardware either.
The drivers are out there somewhere but where? Canon Ic D800 Driver Windows 7 64 Bit. There are some programs for purchase that check you hardware and then see if it has the most current driver. Think those are worth the money? Hi bobbat, It really annoys me to hear about the discontinue of driver support from Pinnacle's behalf. It is acceptable and expected for companies to stop providing support and updates for hardware and software after an extended period of time - this is normal, so they can focus on newer projects - however, they should still supply the latest driver versions either on their website or in an archive somewhere.
Anyhow, the 'driver scanner' software you mentioned I feel would be quite a gamble on your behalf. Is the company reputable?
